Who We Are
We teach Baptiste Power Yoga. This practice will empower you to create accelerated results in your overall body strength and confidence. As part of the Willamette Valley Power Yoga family of studios, we exist to create and support extraordinary yoga communities designed to give you access to a lifetime of power and purpose.
Melinda, owner of PDX Power Yoga and co-founder of WVPY, is a E-RYT 500 Hour Certified Baptiste Yoga Educator who is passionate about sharing the practice of yoga both in and beyond the walls of a studio. She is committed to supporting others through building community and causing each and every student to discover their own greatness.
As a teacher, she believes it is important that classes be challenging yet accessible for all levels. Her students are empowered both physically and mentally by stretching the boundaries of their comfort zone that open up access points to create possibilities in their practice and their life.
Mary's purpose as a teacher is to inspire her students through yoga, and to empower them to unlock their strength and potential both on and off the mat. With a soothing voice and a gentle presence, she leads them to discover their true nature through breath awareness, flowing movement and core connection.
Through asana, meditation and tons of self inquiry, Mary found her way into recovery from perfectionism, depression/anxiety and addiction. Her regular and dedicated practice have given her access to awareness, inner strength and unlimited possibility. Her genuine hope is to share her path with others and guide her students to live a life of freedom and ease in body, mind and soul.
Mary has been studying and practicing yoga for over 10 years. She completed a 200 hour teacher training in Classical Yoga in 2009, and a 300 hour training in Yoga Therapy in 2014. With this strong foundation and a love for vinyasa flow, she went on to complete Level I Baptiste training and Art of Assisting in 2016; Advanced Art of Assisting in 2017, and Level 2 Baptiste training in 2018, completing her certification as a Baptiste Power Yoga Leader. When she isn’t teaching yoga, you can find Mary spending time with her husband and two daughters, exploring the great outdoors with her dog Dash, and soaking up the sun!
